How net-metering works in Thane

Your installer files Form A1 on mahadiscom.in along with a copy of your latest electricity bill, Aadhaar of the connection holder, and a property document. The installer's licence and system specifications go in the same submission. Usually completed within 2 days of finalising the quote.
MSEDCL's section engineer reviews the application. If they need a site visit (typical for systems above 10 kW), they schedule it within 10–15 days. For residential systems under 10 kW, TFR is usually approved on paper without a visit. You'll receive an SMS confirmation.
Once TFR is approved, the installer can begin physical work. Panel mounting and inverter installation typically take 2–3 days for a residential system. The system runs in off-grid mode until net-meter installation.
After installation, your vendor uploads the completion certificate. MSEDCL then installs the bidirectional meter — currently 25–35 days across most Maharashtra districts. The exact day will be SMS-confirmed; someone needs to be home for 1–2 hours.
Once the net-meter is installed and synchronised, your system starts exporting to the grid. Your next monthly bill will show both consumption and export. Expect the first 'net' bill within 30 days of commissioning. Subsidy disbursement to your bank account typically follows in 35–60 days.
